Based on Margaret Atwood’s bestselling book, Jennifer Baichwal’s feature documentary Payback will offer a revealing look at how debt is a central organizing principle in our lives – influencing relationships, societies, governing structures and the very fate of this planet.
Payback will trace the links between debtor and creditor across centuries and cultures – in politics, literature, religion, sociology and economics – showing how debt has become an innate part of the human experience. Payback is produced by Ravida Din for National Film Board of Canada.
