AGENDA: AN UNCONFERENCE
An unconference is a conference where the content of the sessions is created and driven by the participants.
HAND-HELD is moderated by Misha Glouberman, an expert host and facilitator, who will help design and animate the day’s structure. Misha will focus the participants’ collective expertise to explore how the health-care system can improve the lives of young parents with no fixed address – and the children they care for. The day’s events will also delve into the theory and practice of participatory media in healthcare.
We will begin with a screening of a unique “video-bridge” documentary dialogue between the artists of I WAS HERE and health-care professionals at St. Michael’s Hospital. The work is the result of a remarkable 18-month participatory media workshop that has been one of the elements of the Filmmaker-in-Residence project, inspiring this event.
Most of the day will be spent in break-out sessions designed by and with the participants, who will rejoin at the end of the day to create a collective working document outlining short-term and long-term Calls for Action.
HAND-HELD will take place at the MaRs Centre a state-of-the-art multimedia open-concept facility in downtown Toronto.
The day will close with a reception.
